Some Contenders

The air gun range is open. The safety rules are the same as for the archery range and you must be registered to use either the archery or air gun range. Air guns must not use the archery target butts. Air gun butts are the hay bales set on the ground on the left side of the range. Bring your own targets.

We are planning to have regularly scheduled competitions during the Spring season. We are looking for a volunteer to take charge of planning, organizing, and recruiting archers to compete.

Beautification of the archery range is completed. Grass has grown, gravel pathes leading to the target butts are bordered with timbers, and the sprinkler system is installed and working. Below is what the range looks like now. Quite an improvement over the pictures below this one. No more muddy shoes!

The wooded property to the left of the fenced in target range has been set up as a 3D unmarked field range for supervised tournaments ONLY . We currently have six 3-D targets:
  • a turkey
  • 3 deer
  • a Russian boar
  • A black bear

We intend to purchase more 3-D targets as funds permit.

Shooting paths at the 3D range have been cleared on April 20th and the range is ready to be used.

The Pecan Plantation Archery Association is a non-profit association formed under the auspices of the Pecan Plantation Property Owner's Association, and is an organization dedicated to the promotion of archery in all of its various forms. The purpose of the association is to educate, promote and enjoy the sport of Archery with safety being the prime concern. We will have fun archery tournaments throughout the year. We will promote programs that will interest the whole family, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and any other Pecan Plantation sanctioned youth programs.

The Pecan Plantation Archery Association will, from time to time run instructional programs hosted by qualified archery coaches for all types of archery. Programs will include 3D competition archery, compound bow tournament archery, Olympic recurve, and traditional longbow styles of shooting.

We have a fenced in 50 yard archery range located on Ravenswood Rd. to the left of the RV Park when facing the range
from the road. The range has target butts placed at marked intervals starting at 10 yards from the shooting line, and an area for pre hunting-season practice which requires a different type of target butt than that used for target shooting. Belonging to Pecan Plantation Archery Association is the best move you can make towards increasing your enjoyment of the sport. The camaraderie and friendships you will develop with many other archers and their families is especially rewarding. Archery is truly a family-oriented sport, and the activities at the archery range will be formulated around maintaining and building those family relationships. The expression of ideas, the sharing of experiences, the mutual understanding of the goals, aspirations and passions for the sport should all serve to enhance the pride we will feel in our organization. Get involved and see for yourself why we have a great association, in a unique location, with a friendly and experienced group of members ready to help you practice the safe and seductive art of archery.
